Topic Two (1.2): Claims, Assertions and Statements
Introduction
Claims, assertions and statements form the basis of argument. It is important to be able to identify the different types of claims and statements made. This topic will help you recognise how to integrate these into your own writing.
Read and Make Notes
Read Chapter 14, on pages 127 to 136 in your textbook, and make detailed notes.
Tasks
- Make sure you can define and identify facts and opinions, value judgments, predictions and probabilities and hypotheses.
- Watch the following videos and add to your notes.
