Start by watching the following ‘simple sentences’ video.

Open Subject and Object of a Sentence and read together the information at the top of the page. If there is enough time, ask your student to create a large colourful example of simple sentences on plain paper or card, labelling the subject, verb and object. This should then be displayed in your learning space so it can be referred to.

Then, ask your student to complete the rest of the questions on both pages of Subject and Object of a Sentence.

Once finished, ask your student to recap with you on the parts of speech learning that they did in Lesson 1. Choose a way to display this learning, so that it can sit alongside their subject, verb and object sentence display work completed today. All of these parts of grammar are key learning and, if displayed where they can be seen regularly, will help to embed the learning.
