 Main Activity

Our first topic for Year 6 is Water and Rivers. But why is it important to learn about water? Read through the Water is Life PowerPoint with your child. Take your time to think about and to discuss the issues raised.

Today we are thinking about water very generally, but we will focus on different issues in coming weeks.

Ask your child to write a list of 10 questions that they hope to be able to answer by the end of the topic.

Now, ask them to design a poster with the title 'Water is Life'. There are no rules here - they can include as much or as little information as they like but it should explain some of the reasons why water is so important to us.

Ask your child to see how much water they use this week - keep a water log using the sheet My Water Use Record.
