Topic Eight (1.8): Das Schulleben in den deutschsprachigen Ländern
Introduction
In this topic you will learn to do the following:
- Learn about school-life in German-speaking countries
- Ask questions.
Reading
Exercise 1, page 26. Read the text conversation between Nina and Laura and choose which sentence ending (A-H) fits with which sentence beginning (1-6.) Then copy out the words from the text that you think are most useful and important along with their translations into your native language.
Listening
Exercise 2, page 27. Listen to the recording of a teacher answering questions about the exchange visit:

Put the words (1-8) in the order that they are mentioned. Listen again and note down (in German or your own language) the differences between this German school and your own; you can use the example to help you.
Grammar
Exercise 3, page 27. Study section H5 in the Grammatik section of the course book and decide which of the words (in the red box) fits the gap in each of sentences 1-8.
Workbook
Exercises 1 and 2, page 78. Complete the exercises in your grammar workbook to practise forming questions.
Speaking
Exercise 4, page 27. Either with a partner, or working alone, create (and say aloud) answers to questions 1-5.
Writing
Exercise 5, page 27. Write a letter to your exchange partner family! Try to write 130-140 words and be sure to include all of the information set out in the bullet points.
