Introduction
In this topic you will learn to do the following:
- Describe your study timetable and give your opinions about it.
- Use ordinal numbers
- Use days of the week.
Reading
Exercise 1, page 20. Read the Timetable and decide which sentence (1-8) fits into which gap (A-H). Then copy out the German names of the school subjects and their translations in your native language.
Listening
Exercise 2, page 20. Listen to the students discussing their timetable and decide whether sentences (1-8) are ‘Richtig’, ‘Falsch,’ or ‘Nicht angegeben.’

Grammar
Exercise 3, page 21. Read section 12 in the Grammatik section of your course book and decide which words from the red box fit each of the gaps in sentences 1-8.
Workbook
Exercises 1a and 1b, pages 80 to 81. Complete the exercises in your grammar workbook to help you practise using ordinal numbers.
Speaking
Exercise 4, page 21. Use this phonics practice exercise to help with your pronunciation of ‘ie’ and ‘ei.’ Listen to the sentence and then practise saying it three times:

Pay close attention to your pronunciation! If you wish, you can then translate the sentence into your own native language.
Exercise 5, page 21. Either with a partner or working alone, create (and say aloud) answers to questions 1-4. You should use the phrases in the pink box on page 21 to help you.
Writing
Exercise 6, page 21. Write 5 sentences about your studies. You should include:
- What you learn on a typical day?
- What do you think of these subjects?
- What your favourite day is?
