In this topic you will learn to do the following:

  • Describe a typical school day
  • Use irregular verbs in the present tense.

Exercise 1a, page 22.  Read the Information leaflet on page 22 and choose the correct answer (A-C) for questions 1-6.  Then try exercise 1b – Note down the words that you found most useful and important in the leaflet and their translations in your native language.

Exercise 2, page 23.  Listen to Katja describing her school day and correct the sentences (1-8):

Exercise 3a, page 23.  Study F1 in the Grammatik section of your course book to learn about irregular verbs in the present tense.  Then choose the correct form of the verb for sentences 1-8.  Now try exercise 3b – re-read the information leaflet in exercise 1, find ten irregular, present tense verbs; write them down along with their translations in your native language.

Exercises 2 and 3 page 49.  Complete the exercises in your grammar workbook to practise using irregular verbs.  Be sure to read the information about irregular (or strong) verbs at the bottom of page 48.

Exercise 4, page 23.  With a partner, or working alone, create (and say aloud) answers to questions 1-5 about a typical school day.  You should use the phrases in the pink box on page 23 to help you.

Exercise 5, page 23.  Write a short blog about your ‘dream’ school day.  Use the ideas in the bullet points to help you.
