How to work through the course

Once you have read through this Course Guide and you have familiarised yourself with the important course resources, you are ready to begin the course. The course begins with an introductory welcome call with your tutor. This is an informal discussion to make contact with your tutor and ensure you are prepared for the course. For more information, see here.

There are then nine modules for you to complete. You will find each module follows the same structure, as outlined below.

This contains a video to introduce the key ideas of the module to you as well as a summary of the content that you will be studying in the three topics contained within the module.

Topics Icon.png Topic work

Each topic begins with a presentation which you will need to work through, thinking about the questions and noting down key elements to which you can refer to later. For each topic, there is also an Activity Sheet to complete independently and also a Discussion Card to be explored with a study partner. These resources have been chosen specifically to provide you with a more varied and enjoyable learning experience.

At the end of the module, all of the resources that we have directed you to are gathered together in a useful overview.

This section begins with a summary video which poses a key question based on your prior learning. You then complete two tasks within your Reflective Diary: the first answering the question from the video and the second summarising your key learning from the module.

When you are ready to attempt an assignment, we suggest that you read through the assignment guidance on the course Assignments page. You should also check that you know what form your assignment is going to take and that you have the resources for that format before you begin. The assignments are formative, which means you can use the videos, presentations, your Reflective Diary and other resources to help you complete them.
