  • Then complete Exercise 3 on page 10. How are these names pronounced?
  • Next, look at Exercise 4. Practise reading the dialogue aloud or with a partner if possible!
  • Page 10 Read the ¡Atención! box regarding double consonants.
  • Page 11 Exercise 5 – Read the conversations and decide if the response is positive or negative.
  • Page 11 Exercise 6 – listen to Audio track 6 and complete the gaps in the dialogue with the words provided.
  • Now look at Exercise 7 on page 11. There are some mistakes! Read the conversations carefully, then write them out, correcting the words that are misspelt. It is important that you learn all of these expressions, as they are very important when greeting someone and introducing yourself!
  • Read the Estrategia box on page 11 for tips about your accent. If you want to sound authentic, use lots of expression and intonation in your voice. Learn the dialogue you created in Exercise 8 by heart and act it out with friends. Practise your pronunciation out loud and stress questions at the end using intonation (by raising the pitch of your voice).

Read the Gramática box on page 10. In Spanish, the verb ending changes to show us who is the subject of the sentence (who is doing the action). Learn these endings well - they are extremely important.
