Software requirements
To complete the course, you will need the following software on your computer or access to the websites listed. You do not need to install the software in advance of the relevant module. When you get to the module, we will guide you through what needs to be installed (for PC or for MAC).
Don't forget to ask permission before downloading software and installing things on a computer if it doesn't belong to you!
Module One
You will need access to a Google account and Google Drive. Your parent or observer can help you set one up if you are under 13. Create your Google Account Links to an external site.
Note. Get your parent to read the Parents - Google Child Account page before they set up your account.
Module Three
The book suggests you use Notepad++. However, this makes it quite hard for you to send us your website, so instead you should use the TLJH website you have been signed up to – Logging into TLJH. This saves you having to install any software, automatically saves your work, and when it comes to submission time you can just send your tutor the link!
Module Four
The book uses the website scratch.mit.edu Links to an external site.. No other software is needed.
Module Five
No specific software is required other than a compatible web browser. Google provide a compatibility list Links to an external site. you can check. The Hodder coursebook assumes you have Microsoft Excel. Google Sheets Links to an external site. can be used instead of Excel.
Module Six
There are no specific software requirements for this module. However, you will need to be able to access the emulator website http://tinkercad.com/ Links to an external site.. This has been tested on both Windows 10 and Max OS-X using Chrome.
Note. You can use your Google account to sign up to this but get your parent to read Parents - Accessing Sites before you do this.
