Introduction
In this module, you will learn how to talk about plans for the near future - it is very important that you learn and understand how to form this tense.
Working through your coursebook
Please work through the following sections in your coursebook, completing all listed exercises:
- Page 102 Exercise 1: read Kariñe´s plans for the weekend and match the numbers (1-8) with the pictures (a-h). Keep in mind that Voy a… means “I'm going to…” (In both languages, Spanish and English, this structure is followed by a verb in the infinitive. For example: Voy a bailar en la fiesta/I´m going to dance at the party).
- Read the Gramática box on page 102 about how to form the near future tense. Then complete Exercise 2 by filling in the correct part of the verb ir in each sentence.
- Translate your sentences from Exercise 2 into English.
- Page 103 Exercise 4: Listen to Audio Track 23 and complete the table in English with the correct information to show the activity, who she will do it with and her opinion.
- Complete Exercise 5 on page 103: Read about the popular Cuban singer Camila Cabello then match the starts and endings of the phrases to show what you have read. Translate the sentences into English.
- Read the Estrategia box on page 103 about using synonyms to avoid repetition. Next, complete Exercise 6 on page 103. Find synonyms (words that have the same meaning) for the words listed in the text about Camila Cabello.
- Complete Exercise 7 on page 103. Write a paragraph about your plans for next weekend. Include at least five activities, the days when you will do them, your opinion about three of the activities and details of two people who will also be there.
Review
- Complete Exercise 8 on page 103: Prepare a presentation about what you are going to do this weekend. Practise this out loud. (Remember that voy a sounds like boy a in Spanish, as the letters b and v sound the same).
