Introduction
In this topic, you will learn vocabulary associated with dream holidays and how to say what you would like to do on holiday by developing your use of je voudrais and j’aimerais.
Working through your coursebook
Please work through the following sections in your coursebook, completing all listed exercises:
- Page 116 Exercise 1 – Match the photos with their descriptions. Check any words that you are unsure of in the vocabulary section on page 129. Listen to Audio Disc 2 Track 28 to check your answers to this activity.
- Read the Grammaire section on page 116 to learn how to say ‘I would like’ in two different ways. Then complete Exercise 3 page 116 to use them in full sentences. If you can, try to include a reason for why you would choose each holiday. This will extend your sentence and make it more complex.
- Read the texts in Exercise 4 on page 117, using the Reading Strategies box to help you. Can you match each person to their ideal holiday from Exercise 1? Then, translate each of the texts into English. You can look up any unknown words but try to set a limit of 3 per text to challenge yourself more!
- Listen to Audio Disc 2 Track 29 and complete Exercise 6 page 117 by filling in the table in English for each person.
Review
Describe your ideal holiday by writing a paragraph in French. Don’t forget to explain your reasoning! Try also to use more than one tense in your answer. For example, talk about where you normally go on holiday and then talk about where you would like to go in the future, using the two verbs you have learnt in this module.
