Interact Icon.png Working through your coursebook

Please work through the following sections in your coursebook, completing all listed exercises:

  • Page 56 Exercise 1: Listen to the sound effects of each film (1-7) in Audio Disc 1 Track 39 and match them to the correct image (a-g). Remember to look up the meaning of any new words that you find.

LISTEN - Audio Track 39

  • Page 56 Exercise 2: Complete this reading exercise then answer the questions that follow.
  • Page 56 Exercise 3: Next, match the words in bold from the text with the correct English equivalent in one of the colourful boxes.
  • Page 57 Exercise 4: You can do this activity on your own. Read the questions in the purple boxes then answer them using the phrases in the green boxes. Try to include the suggestions in ¡Arriba, arriba! in your answer. Using these expressions will help you sound like a native! Make sure that you make a note of these, as you could use them for other topics.
  • Page 57 Exercise 5: Listen to Audio Disc 1 Track 40 then answer the questions carefully.

LISTEN - Audio Track 40

  • Read the Estrategia box on page 57. As your Spanish improves, you will also start working with a higher level of Spanish. You won’t know every single word you come across - that’s why it is important to learn how to infer. To infer means to form an opinion or guess the answer because of the information that you have.

  • Page 57 Exercise 6: Write an email to a friend about going to the cinema. Make sure that you mention the following points:
    • your favourite film and why it is your favourite
    • who you go to the cinema with and when
    • what’s good and what’s bad about going to the cinema
  • You may want to leave this exercise until after you have done the grammar section and had more practice in the use of mejor and peor.
  • Page 57 Exercise 7: Can you translate this film review into English? Make sure that your work sounds English and not translated!
