To create a poster using desktop publishing.

VOCABULARY:

Desktop publishing: the production of printed matter by means of a printer linked to a desktop computer.

What to Get Ready

Before you start this lesson with your child, we recommend that you try the exercises for yourself so that you can answer any questions that may arise.

Canva is a free to use website. You do not need to register but we recommend that you do so work can be saved.

Introduction

The second half of this unit will focus on desktop publishing. Ask your child if they understand the meaning of this term. Explain that it is a means of printing different types of material created on their own computer. It usually consists of a mixture of text and graphics put together in an engaging way.

Main Activity

Go to the Canva website.

ACCESS - Canva

To access any material created, you will need to register with an email address. Please note that not all photos and graphics will be available on a free account but there is still sufficient material to create stunning designs.

Children will need their posters that they created by hand last week. They will be recreating this as a poster on the Canva website.
