Introduction

Welcome to our Cambridge IGCSE Biology course. This guide explains how the course is structured, how your work will be assessed and how to get the most out of your studies, so please read it carefully before you start.

This course leads you step-by-step through the syllabus using your coursebook, video links, quizzes, worksheets and assignments so that by the end you will feel confident and ready to show off all you’ve learnt in your IGCSE exam.

During your course you will immerse yourself into the fascinating world of Biology.  You will learn much about how living things work and learn to question and think differently about the environment that surrounds you. Your will gain a new perspective for everything from tiny molecules to the largest animals.

By the end of the course, you should:

  • be ready to progress to the next stage of your studies, and eventually become confident citizens of a world in which science and technology have such an important role
  • have developed skills that are relevant not only to Biology but which are useful to everyday life, such as a concern for experimental reliability, objectivity, initiative, inventiveness and curiosity
  • appreciate the role of science in modern life, and how it fits in with and affects social, ethical, economic and cultural issues, in positive and negative ways
