Topic Seven (1.7): Equivalent fractions

 Introduction

One half of a chocolate cake is the same amount of cake as two quarters. $\frac{1}{2}$ and $\frac{2}{4}$ are called equivalent fractions, as they represent the same sized part. (Does eating two quarters of a cake sound less greedy than eating a half a cake, even though they are the same amount?)
