Assignment 01
- Due No due date
- Points 100
All of your IGCSE Computer Science Assignments 1–6 will be made up of two parts, to prepare you for your two exams.
Part One will be similar in style to the questions you will face in your Paper 1 exam. It will be a mixture of short-answer (two or three word) answers, those demanding longer-form answers or explanations, and a few quasi-practical questions, where you must produce something to emulate a real-world situation.
Part Two will be programming practice to prepare you for your Paper 2 exam. These questions will mostly involve you writing small pieces of code (and later, using flowcharts and pseudocode) as this is what will be expected of you in the exam. Paper 2 will include a long, 15 mark question where you will be asked to provide either pseudocode or programming code to solve a problem based on a scenario. Regular coding practice will be a considerable help in answering this question
For Part Two, you should send your work to your tutor via a link to your TLJH files, so we can see your code running.
Assignments 7–10 will not have separate programming practice sections. At the end of the course, you are encouraged to make use of the exercises in Chapter 11 of your coursebook to practice larger programming tasks. There will not be an assignment to hand in for this chapter – the exercises will largely replace past papers, as the new syllabus has made such papers largely obsolete.
