Introduction
Welcome to our Cambridge IGCSE Computer Science course. This guide explains how the course is structured, how your work will be assessed and how to get the most out of your studies, so please read it carefully before you start.
This course leads you step-by-step through the syllabus using your coursebook, video links, quizzes, worksheets and assignments so that by the end you will feel confident and ready to show off all you’ve learnt in your IGCSE exam.
Through this course, we aim to give you a thorough understanding not only of what computers can do, but how they work and how all the bits and pieces fit together, as well as an introduction to the concepts of programming and program design. You will gain plenty of practice at applying your knowledge of computing and Computer Science, not just through the assignments, but through numerous smaller exercises and self-test questions in your coursebook.
You will learn a lot about Computer Science that’s fascinating and useful. By the end of the course, you should be able to:
- show and communicate knowledge and understanding of a wide range of Computer Science topics;
- use the knowledge and skills you have learned to produce your own Computer Science solutions to various problems;
- analyse and evaluate Computer Science-based situations in order to make judgements and conclusions.
