Topic Four (1.4): Measuring Data Storage
This part of the module focuses on the units used to measure amounts of data, in particular “new” units created to avoid confusion between denary and binary based definitions of units e.g. there are 1,000 Megabytes in a Gigabyte (denary), but 1,024 Mebibytes in a Gibibyte (binary/hexadecimal).
You will learn how to use these measurements to calculate the size of image and sound files. As part of your assignment, you will be asked to calculate the approximate size of a file using this method.
