This Sample shows One module from the full course and is designed to give you a flavour of the Wolsey Hall approach to home study.

Welcome to the second year of the Lower Secondary Latin and the Roman World course. In the Year 7 course you met the Olympian Gods and learnt about some of the gods and heroes, both semi-divine and mortal, of the Roman world; in Year 8 you will continue finding out about how the Romans communicated with their gods, how they dedicated their entertainment to the gods and how the gods communicated with mortals by prophecy, oracles and omens. The Roman world was full of supernatural elements! Towards the end of the course you will move on to consider the history of Rome, starting with the myth of Rome's foundation, and then exploring the strengths and weaknesses of the Roman Republic.

Your language skills are also going to develop. You will continue to acquire new vocabulary and learn new grammar. As you develop your knowledge of cases, tenses and different types of clauses, you will find you can understand more complex sentences in Latin.

So your journey into the culture and language of the Roman world continues!
