Topic Four (1.4): Analysing texts
Introduction
You are going to be comparing diaries and blogs from different time periods. You will also investigate whether dangerous pursuits have any place in the modern world.
Working through your course book
- Begin by reading pages 26-29 in your course book. Complete the activities as you come to them.
- When studying diaries, organisational features refer to the structure of the diary. When answering Question 3 (about the extract on pages 28 and 29) think about how this is structured into different paragraphs and how this ends.
- Now read and do the activities on pages 30-31. Opinion columns use lots of jargon – specialist language related to a topic (such as a particular sport). Always use the glossary in the textbook if you are not familiar with the words or use a dictionary.
