In this topic, you will discover more interesting facts about Germany. You will also have the opportunity to revise and consolidate the grammar covered in Module 1.

Please work through the following sections in your coursebook, completing all listed exercises:

  • Complete exercise 1 on page 20: read the article in the purple box, then complete the English sentences with the correct information
  • Complete exercise 2 on page 20: listen to the audio and decide if the statements are positive or negative.

  • Complete exercise 4 on page 21: read the text and complete Hera’s profile with the relevant information.
  • Complete exercise 5 on page 21: listen to the audio, then put the sentences (a-h) into the correct order.

  • Complete exercise 6 on page 21: choose four sentences from exercise 5 and translate them into English.

Extra: can you translate all of them?

  • After having revised what you have learned about genders and articles, complete exercises 1,2 and 3 on page 22.
  • After having revised the verb sein, complete exercises 4 and 5 on page 22 to consolidate your knowledge.
  • After having revised the verb wohnen, complete exercises 6 and 7 on page 23 to consolidate your knowledge.
  • After having revised the verb haben, complete exercises 8 and 9 on page 23 to consolidate your knowledge.
  • Complete exercise 10 on page 23: listen to the audio and repeat what you hear, trying to sound as close to the audio as possible.

  • Complete exercise 11 on page 23: listen to the audio and practise saying the sentences.

Complete the ‘Was kann ich schon’ section on page 24 and page 25.

  • Complete exercise 1 on page 24: Match the questions on the left with the answers on the right.
  • Complete exercise 2 on page 24: read the texts, then answer the questions by stating who the questions refer to.
  • Complete exercise 3 on page 24: listen to the audio and note people’s birthdays and ages.

  • Complete exercise 4 on page 24: listen to the audio and decide if the statements are true or false.

  • Complete exercise 5 on page 25: write the birthdays in full words instead of numbers
  • Complete exercise 6 on page 25: put the words into the correct order to form an accurate sentence.
  • Complete exercise 7 on page 25: translate the text into German. Note: be sure to check spelling (capital letters for nouns!).

Once you have completed all of these tasks, count up your points and find out if you have won bronze, silver or gold!
