Topic One (1.1): Typical features of the genre
Introduction
In this topic you will consider why readers may be attracted to particular genres and identify the typical features of the mystery genre.
Working through your course book
- Please read and work through pages 10-11 from Ignite 2. Complete the activities as you come to them.
- To help you with the questions on pages 10-11, you could also think of any films or TV programmes you have seen which fit this genre. As the two assignments in this module will have a writing focus, the extra SPG workbook tasks throughout this module will focus on helping you to improve your spelling.
- Now read and work through pages 12-13 in Ignite 2.
- For Question 2, use the following chart to help you analyse the impressions you get about the mysterious woman. Find two other quotes to explain. Then use a similar chart to help you analyse the character of Sherlock Holmes.
