In this topic you will consider why readers may be attracted to particular genres and identify the typical features of the mystery genre.

  • Please read and work through pages 10-11 from Ignite 2. Complete the activities as you come to them.
  • To help you with the questions on pages 10-11, you could also think of any films or TV programmes you have seen which fit this genre. As the two assignments in this module will have a writing focus, the extra SPG workbook tasks throughout this module will focus on helping you to improve your spelling.
  • Now read and work through pages 12-13 in Ignite 2.
  • For Question 2, use the following chart to help you analyse the impressions you get about the mysterious woman. Find two other quotes to explain. Then use a similar chart to help you analyse the character of Sherlock Holmes.
