  • Please read and work through through Unit 1 (pages 22-25) in Ignite 2. Complete the activities as you come to them.
  • Look at the resource How to Create an Interesting Detective Download How to Create an Interesting Detective to help you write an interesting character (Activity 4a on page 23). Try also to use the extracts on page 23 as guides on how to write a successful description. You can use this description in your assignment.
  • Now read and do the activities on pages 26-27 in Ignite 2.
  • It would be useful at this stage to start thinking about which narrative voice and perspective you want to use for your own story. You may want to try several different ones in the planning stages to see which one works best.

Watch the Silent Letters and Unstressed Vowels video.

Now read through and complete pages 14 and 15 in your SPG workbook. Answers can be checked on page 80. This will help you revise hard and soft c sounds and the i before e rule. If you need any help whilst completing the exercises in the workbook, remember that there are Spelling, Punctuation and Grammar Guides (SPG Guides) in the important course resources.

What are you reading at the moment? To complement this topic you may like to try Ruby in the Smoke by Philip Pullman. If you've enjoyed a book lately, why not leave a book review for other students?
