Topic Five (1.5): Planning Assignment One B
Introduction
In this topic, you will use role play and creative writing to explore setting and situation. You will also plan and write Assignment 01B.
Working through your course book
- Please read and work through Unit 1 (pages 28-29) in Ignite 2. Complete the activities as you come to them.
- You could also spend some time here planning your setting. Your story could be based in a real or imagined setting – this is totally up to you. Try writing a description of your setting or draw/paint some pictures of this to help you visualise your scene.
- Now read and do the activities on pages 30-31 in Ignite 2.
- Before you start to write this assignment, remember to use the planning notes and sheets you have created throughout the module. Also, see the Assignment 01B guidance Download Assignment 01B guidance which has more details as well as the marking criteria.

Reading for pleasure
What are you reading at the moment? To complement this topic you may like to try The London Eye Mystery by Siobhan Dowd. Other mystery stories you might like to try are The Screaming Staircase by Jonathan Stroud, York: The Shadow Cipher by Laura Ruby and Framed! by James Ponti. If you've enjoyed a book lately, why not leave a book review for other students?
