STUDYING FRENCH

More than 220 million people across the world speak French. French is the second most widely learned foreign language after English, and the sixth most widely spoken language in the world.

French is also the only language, alongside English, that is taught in every country in the world.

This Cambridge IGCSE course is designed for students who are learning French as a foreign language. The aim of the course is to develop an ability to use the French language effectively for practical communication. The course is based on the linked language skills of listening, reading, speaking and writing, and these are built on as you progress through your studies.

The course also aims to offer insights into the culture of countries where French is spoken, thus encouraging positive attitudes towards language learning and towards speakers of other languages.

STUDYING WITH WOLSEY HALL

Course Structure

Each of our Wolsey Hall courses is written around a specialised coursebook which has been chosen by our tutor team as the best available text for each syllabus. You will be guided through this book by working through a series of online modules. These course modules have been developed by a subject specialist and include guidance linked to the coursebook and extensive online resources. At the end of each module, there is an interactive quiz which enables you to assess how much of the syllabus you have understood so far.  Once you are happy that you have achieved all the learning objectives for that module, you will begin work on the module assignment. The assignments are submitted online and marked by your Course Tutor. Each assignment is assessed by your tutor and returned with a grade and detailed feedback.

As part of the course you will also complete six Speaking Preps which occur after every three modules, with the final two acting as revision as part of the Exam Prep Module. In these Speaking Preps you will complete a quiz to review the topics of the previous three modules and then arrange a video call with your Course Tutor to conduct your speaking assessment.

In summary, then, this CAIE French course consists of thirteen modules plus six Speaking Preps and concludes with our Exam Prep Module and Mock Examination service.
