Speaking Prep
More than 220 million people across the world speak French. French is the second most widely-learned foreign language after English, and the sixth most extensively-spoken language in the world. French is also the only language, alongside English, that is taught in every country in the world.
As well as teaching you the grammar and vocabulary that you need for fluency in written French, this course aims to develop an ability to use the French language effectively for everyday oral communication and to prepare you for the speaking assessment of the final examination.
Using the excellent Cambridge IGCSE French syllabus, you will learn how to talk about the following subjects:
- Your home and family
- Where you live
- Your school life and daily routine
- Staying with a family in France
- Celebrations and festivals
- Environmental issues
During the course you will have six opportunities to have a 30-minute video call lesson with your tutor to prepare you for Paper 3, the French Speaking part of your final exam.
These lessons are scheduled roughly every three modules, as follows:
- Speaking Prep One = Module Three
- Speaking Prep Two = Module Six
- Speaking Prep Three = Module Nine
- Speaking Prep Four = Module Twelve
- Speaking Prep Five and Six = Module Thirteen
Before each video call lesson, you should complete the interactive Speaking Prep Quiz as this will allow you to revise vocabulary covered in the previous topics and to prepare for the speaking assessment.
