Your Course Book and Resources

Wolsey Hall offers a unique model of offline and online resources to our homeschooling students – a model which we have developed based on our many years’ experience of providing homeschooling courses.

All the files required for your course are uploaded onto our Learning Management system, Canvas, and your coursebook will be sent out to you.

Coursebook

Each subject specialist team carefully selects the best coursebook from which you will study. The one for your French course is:

  • Cambridge IGCSE French as a Foreign Language Coursebook (Cambridge University Press, 2019); ISBN: 9781108590525

The coursebook has been developed specifically for the Cambridge IGCSE French syllabus and will therefore help you prepare for your final examination. You’ll find it full of interesting content and up-to-date examples. It takes a skills-based approach to learning French and promotes a deep understanding of the French language. It also includes topics on French-speaking cultures to ensure that you gain the cultural awareness that is at the heart of the Cambridge IGCSE French syllabus.

We also supply the additional workbook:

  • Cambridge IGCSE French as a Foreign Language Workbook (Cambridge University Press, 2019); ISBN: 9781108710091

This workbook has been created specifically to be used alongside the coursebook. It gives you further practice of all the grammar you will come across in the coursebook. The modules will indicate which pages you should read for each topic.

Throughout the course, we recommend that you try all the questions in the coursebook – the Programme of Study will highlight which pages you should read for each module. The Programme of Study for this course is a very important document as it shows how the course links to the CAIE syllabus and highlights which pages of the coursebook to read as you progress through the topics and modules.  You should download this and keep it with you as you study.

Other resources

In addition to your coursebook, your tutors have sourced lots of interesting and fun resources to support your learning.  These include videos, quizzes, worksheets, useful information and, sometimes, games!  The resources are linked within the modules and you should make use of these alongside your coursebook work to ensure that you get the very best out of your course.  Please do use the Defined Content Booklet found in General Resources which gives you helpful information about the format of the exams along with useful material such as the vocabulary (by topic) that you will need to be familiar with.
