Exercise 1. A school subject in French is ‘une matière’. N.B. Do NOT use the word ‘sujet’ for this kind of subject.

‘en utilisant’ means ‘whilst using’
Exercise 4. ‘une mensonge’ means ‘a lie’. This exercise is difficult to do without a partner as you can’t really lie to yourself, so feel free to leave it out.
Exercise 5. Read the letter from Habib and find the words in the text which correspond to the definitions given in Fiche 1.03 Download Fiche 1.03.
Exercise 6. NRP stands for ‘ne répond pas’ and the questionnaire ‘ci-dessous’ means the questionnaire at the bottom of the page ‘under here’.
Exercise 7. Now answer the questions about your own school. ‘établissement’ means ‘establishment’ and here this refers to a school.
Exercise 8. Why do you think ‘Maghzine’ has this name? Hint: Find out what the Maghreb is.
