Actividad preparatoria / Thinking ahead
There are two quick reading techniques that are very useful when tackling a text: “Skimming” and “Scanning”. Skimming is a superficial type of reading that uses help from items such as the title, subtitles, pictures, font, etc. When you are skimming, you may look through a text quickly to get the gist or general idea of the text. You would not have all the details but you would find the main points.
Scanning focuses more on finding an exact answer with the help of names, key words, specific phrases, etc. In scanning you have a question in your mind and you read a passage only to find the answer, ignoring unrelated information.
Now, what type of technique or strategy will you need to complete this task?
