Read through the “Vocabulario” green box about the verbs Gustar and Preferir. Note the differences in conjugation between the two (Gustar needs an extra word in front of the verb (personal pronoun) plus an article or infinitive afterwards). Once you have read all the explanation, think of some example sentences for each verb.

This exercise is best completed in pairs, as you need to ask some questions and take notes. If you have somebody that can help you and can speak a bit of Spanish, ask them to be your partner for this exercise. If you haven’t, you will have to think of all the questions and answers yourself, and maybe use a bit of dramatisation to make it more interesting. What about recording yourself and using two different voices? You will have to ask if they like animals. If they do, ask which is their favourite and why. Do they have a pet? After they’ve spoken, it’s your turn to answer the same questions.

In your notebook, write a short text with all the information your partner has given you. Remember to use the third person singular (ella/él) and some examples of the verbs gustar and preferir.
