Topic Three (1.3): Recording data

Topics Icon.png Objectives

By the end of this topic you should be able to:

  • describe how to observe and record results;
  • present data as tables and graphs as appropriate.

You might also be able to:

  • calculate a mean from three repeat measurements.

  • Read pages 6–7 of Activate 1.
  • This skill sheet shows you how to draw different tables. Make sure you keep it,  as it will help you when you do the required practicals in your science courses.

  • Now carry out the experiment with the ball you planned in Topic 1.2. Just be careful you do it somewhere away from anything breakable.

    • Record your results in an appropriate table. (There is one on page 6 of Activate 1 you could copy, or adapt.)
    • Don't forget to do at least 3 repeats and then calculate the mean height.
