This Sample shows One module from the full course and is designed to give you a flavour of the Wolsey Hall approach to home study.

Welcome to the third year of the Lower Secondary Latin and the Roman World course. In Year 7 and Year 8 you learned about the Roman gods, heroes, sacrifices, festivals, kings and you ended up with the change to a republic. Now you will hear about the last days of that republic and the characters, mostly generals, who brought about its fall. You will learn about Julius Caesar, one of the most famous Romans of them all and about his adopted son Octavian, whom we know as the first Roman emperor, Augustus. You will also venture further afield than Rome, looking at Egypt and finishing with Roman Britain and the rebellion of Boudicca. Alongside all this you will be consolidating your knowledge of Latin and learning how this fascinating language still has a strong influence on many European languages including English. At the end of this course you may like to consider moving on to the IGCSE Latin course for which you will be well-prepared.
