Topic Two (1.2): Ideas, setting and dialogue

 Introduction

In this topic, you will be exploring the main ideas and feelings in a poem. You will also explore how setting and dialogue can help convey an author’s message.

 Working through your course book

  • Begin by reading pages 38-39 in Ignite 3. Complete the activities as you come to them. This article states that it is better to have a range of friends rather than one best friend. Can you make a list of points you could use in a counter-balance to help you with Question 3a? What benefits are there to having a best friend?
  • Now read and do the activities on pages 40-41. Use the Friendship Quotes worksheet to help answer Question 1 – this has some other examples of famous quotations about friendship.
