IGCSE History
Welcome to your Wolsey Hall IGCSE History Course
This Sample shows One module from the full course and is designed to give you a flavour of the Wolsey Hall approach to home study.
STUDYING HISTORY
Martin Luther King once said: “We are not makers of History. We are made by History.”
Through studying History we can understand how societies change and the factors that cause such change. It also helps us to understand what elements of an institution or a society persist despite change.
You will develop an understanding of the nature of cause and effect, continuity and change, similarity and difference and discover how to use and understand historical evidence as part of your studies.
This Cambridge IGCSE course looks at some of the major international issues of the nineteenth and twentieth centuries, as well as covering the history of particular regions in more depth. The emphasis is on both historical knowledge and on the skills required for historical research.
STUDYING WITH WOLSEY HALL
Course Structure
Each of our Wolsey Hall courses is written around a specialised course book which has been chosen by our tutor team as the best available text for each syllabus. You will be guided through this book by working through a series of online Modules. These course Modules have been developed by a subject specialist and include guidance linked to the course book and extensive online resources. At the end of each Module, there is an interactive quiz which enables you to assess how much of the syllabus you have understood so far. Once you are happy that you have achieved all the learning objectives for that Module, you will begin work on the Module Assignment. The Assignments are submitted online and marked by your Course Tutor. Each Assignment is assessed by your tutor and returned with a grade and detailed feedback.
This CAIE History course consists of twelve Modules and concludes with our Exam Preparation Module and Mock Examination service.
Course Support
When you enrol with Wolsey Hall you will be appointed a Student Progress Manager who is your key point of contact with the College. They will support you throughout your course and help you keep to your assignment schedule. You will begin your course with an online chat with your Course Tutor which will give you an opportunity to discuss the course in more detail and ask any questions you may have. From then on, you will be able to message your Course Tutor via the Canvas Messaging System at any time if you require guidance.
We will support you at every stage in your studies. To help you get the most out of your course, we have produced a comprehensive Course Guide. We strongly encourage you to read through this Course Guide before you begin your studies.
