IGCSE Maths Extended 2025-27
Welcome to your Wolsey Hall IGCSE Maths Extended Course
This Sample shows One module from the full course and is designed to give you a flavour of the Wolsey Hall approach to home study.
STUDYING MATHS EXTENDED
The reason why so many employers highly value mathematics qualifications is that mathematics students become better at thinking logically and analytically. Through solving problems, you develop resilience and the ability to think creatively and strategically. James Sylvester, a British mathematician, called Mathematics “the music of reason”.
In this Cambridge IGCSE course, you will be encouraged to develop mathematical knowledge as a key life skill. The course will develop your competence and fluency with mathematical concepts, methods and skills, as well as providing you with a feel for numbers, patterns and relationships. There is a strong emphasis throughout the course on solving problems and presenting and interpreting results. You will also gain an understanding of how to communicate and reason using mathematical concepts.
STUDYING WITH WOLSEY HALL
Course Structure
Each of our Wolsey Hall courses is written around a specialised coursebook which has been chosen by our tutor team as the best available text for each syllabus. You will be guided through this book by working through a series of online Modules. These course Modules have been developed by a subject specialist and include guidance linked to the coursebook and extensive online resources. Each Module is divided into the syllabus Topics of Number, Algebra, Shape and Data. Each Topic is further broken down into manageable study sessions.
At the end of each Module, there is an interactive quiz which enables you to assess how much of the syllabus you have understood so far. Once you are happy that you have achieved all the learning objectives for that Module, you will begin work on the Module Assignment. The Assignments are submitted online and marked by your Course Tutor. Each Assignment is assessed by your tutor and returned with a grade and detailed feedback.
This CAIE Extended Maths course consists of twelve Modules and concludes with our Exam Preparation Module and Mock Examination service.
Course Support
When you enrol with Wolsey Hall you will be appointed a Student Progress Manager who is your key point of contact with the College. They will support you throughout your course and help you keep to your assignment schedule.
You will begin your course with a welcome video call with your Course Tutor. Here you will have an opportunity to discuss the course and ask any questions or raise any concerns. You can also have a second call with your tutor during the course and we encourage you to use this opportunity to review your progress so far and talk through any concerns or questions that you may have.
For IGCSE Maths Extended, this review call should take place after completing the assignment for Module Five.
At other times, if you require guidance, you will be able to contact your tutor via the Canvas messaging system.
We will support you at every stage in your studies. To help you get the most out of your course, we have produced a comprehensive Course Guide. We strongly encourage you to read through this Course Guide before you begin your studies.
