Introduction

Contextual factors are very important because they show that you understand that your text was not written in isolation but is a product of the time in which it was written and that it was influenced by a range of different factors. Context also relates to the type of text you are dealing with and its genre. It is relatively easy to pick up marks for context in your essays, so make sure you learn a good range of contextual factors for each of your set texts.

N.B. You are not expected to know the contexts of any unseen texts at AS.
