Assignment guides
How will my work be assessed?
You will complete three different types of assignments for English. They are:
- Reading assignments which will assess how well you can analyse a text. For all reading assignments, try to use the PEE technique. If you are not sure what this is, please see this guide.

- Writing assignments which will assess your own writing skills, including spelling, punctuation, and grammar.
- Speaking assignments which you will record as podcasts and will assess your presentation skills.
For each assignment, always read through the assignment and the assignment guidance worksheets as they will detail which skills are being assessed.

Tutors will use these guides to assess your work. English is a skill-based subject so throughout the course you will be developing these key skills. The aim of the assignments is to improve your skills based on the feedback you get from your tutor. It is common to be working at a higher grade for one or more of the skills. Use the guides to see what you need to improve on to achieve the next band up and take note of the feedback you receive from your tutor who will highlight these improvement points.
