Topic Five (1.5): Review and Planning the Assignment
- Your assignment will be a reading task. Make sure that you attempt all of the questions and be guided by how many marks a question is worth. The assignment will test your comprehension skills and also your ability to analyse language. For example, in Question 9 you will be asked to analyse the methods used. Methods can refer to any techniques used or interesting uses of vocabulary or grammar.
- When you are asked to select evidence from the text to support your ideas, try to use the PEE technique to help structure your thoughts. The PEE technique means:
- Point – make a point (your main idea).
- Example – support your idea with a quotation from the extract (remember to use quotation marks: ”).
- Explain – analyse why this quote is effective/what image it helps you to picture.
- Before attempting the assignment, watch this video, which will show you an example of PEE:
Review
Produce a poster showing the key features of prose, poetry and drama texts.
Quiz
Now that you have completed all of the topics, it is time to check your understanding by taking the multiple-choice quiz. Remember: you can do the quiz as many times as you want to practise and learn. Use it as an opportunity to test yourself!
