Community Clubs

We offer two specific clubs that help develop your speaking and written communication skills. They are also a lot of fun! Why not give them a go?

Remember to check here for this month's password. You will need this to find out more about each club.

Debate club

Our lively debate club will give you an opportunity to develop your spoken skills in a fun way.  Each week there will be a range of activities to help you hone your critical thinking skills and enable you to become a confident communicator. You will also become more informed about the world around you. If you have any questions about this club, please contact Robyn Lippingwell, English tutor.

Creative writing club

Each week, you will learn new ideas and different styles of writing which will help you grow as a writer.  You will feel safe and encouraged to share your work with others in a relaxed and friendly environment. If you have any questions about this club, please contact Sally Sim, English tutor.

Book club

If you love reading, you’re going to love this club, where you will discover new books and authors. We will suggest a book title for you to read and you will have two months each time to read this. You will then meet to discuss your set book on alternate months with our Book Club leader, Sarah Keeler. Don’t worry if you don’t finish it in this time, you are still very welcome to come along and discuss what you have read so far.

The idea of joining a club may be a little daunting at first but remember:

“The scariest moment is just before you start. After that, things can only get better”.
