Frequently asked questions
Do I need to send my topic work to my tutor?
In the topic pages, you will be directed to complete exercises in Quest 3 and Get It Right 3. You do not need to send these to your tutor.
Can I take the assignments in any order?
We recommend that you take the assignments in the order of the course. We understand that you may wish to pursue a particular interest in a subject (e.g. creative writing) but we would recommend that you approach the assignments in the correct order.
Do I need to take the assignments in test conditions?
Most of the assignments in the course should be approached as open-book assignments. The assignments are formative (also known as 'assignments for learning') which means that they form part of your learning and they do not need to be taken under test conditions.
Where can I find the answers to the textbook questions?
The answers to Quest 3 and the Get it Right 3 workbook can be found at the bottom of the topic pages under the Check your answers section and we recommend that you check the answers at the end of each study session.
What happens if I get stuck?
Have a look at topic page: have you read all the relevant information and completed all of the tasks? There are accompanying worksheets (and videos) to help you along the way. There are also guides in the important course resources. If you are stuck on the assignments, then do read through the assignment guidance sheets which have some examples of how to approach the assignment. If you have read through all of the resources and are still unsure of something, then go ahead and then email your tutor with your question. Your tutor will be very happy to help.
Can I use a dictionary and/or a thesaurus in my assignments?
We ask you to not use a dictionary or thesaurus to help you in your assignments. You should handwrite all assignments and only type if this has been agreed with your tutor and SPM. In this instance, please ensure the spell checker is turned off. Your tutor will be assessing your spelling and use of punctuation.
