Module One Introduction
Welcome to Module One of your Year 7 Science course!
The first part of Module One is all about working scientifically. This is a key part of science, which will help you in all of the Year 7 course and beyond, so make sure you work through it carefully. The second part of the module is your first Biology topic: cells. It is the first Biology Chapter in the coursebook. You will learn more about the cells that make up plants and animals. Cells are the building blocks of living things, but what do they contain? How do different cells do different jobs? You'll also be doing your first practical experiment in this module, as part of your assignment, to investigate how water is transported in and out of cells.
You should work through each topic, reading your coursebook, completing the activities and watching any videos. If you feel that you need more support or are ready for an extra challenge, we direct you to optional resources. Remember that you can check your answers to the Activate exercises and there are mark schemes for all the worksheets in the Check your answers section on each topic page.
Before you complete Assignment One, there are eleven topics to complete. You will also be doing a simple practical, and you’ll need to collect data from it as part of your assignment. As this is your first practical, you should read through the page on how to approach your practicals.
