Module One Introduction
Welcome to Module One of your Year 9 Maths course! You will be using Mastering Mathematics Book 3 for this and subsequent modules – unless otherwise stated.
Module One begins with exploring indices and how to express very large or very small numbers using standard form. You'll then look at factors and rounding numbers. Finally, you'll discover how rounding can be used for estimation, a fundamental skill in mathematics.
You should work through each topic, reading your course book, completing the activities and watching the video tutorials. Remember that if you need more support or feel ready for an extra challenge, we direct you to optional Band 1 or Band 3 questions in the coursebook.
When you have completed the topics, there is a quiz for you to complete. You can retake the quiz as many times as you like. When you have achieved over 50% in the quiz, Assignment One will become unlocked for you to complete.
