Introduction

Rounding a number makes it easier to estimate answers to sums in your head. You will need to learn when it is best to either round up or down. You might notice that we often round numbers up or down to make them easier to remember. For example, we could say that the shortest driving distance from San Francisco to New York is roughly three thousand miles; it is actually 2902.75 miles.

Warm Up

First complete the skill checker on page 187, which revises your Year 6 work on rounding to the nearest 10 or 100.
