Topic Eight (0.8): Successful Essay Writing – Style Tip 5: Using Context

Introduction

As at AS, contextual factors are still very important to include in your essays at AL, because they show you understand that your text was not written in isolation, but is a product of the time in which it was written and was influenced by a range of different factors. Context also relates to the type of text you are dealing with and its genre. It is relatively easy to pick up marks for context in your essays, so make sure you learn a good range of contextual details for each of your texts.

As all of your essays will be on set texts at AL, you should attempt to bring contextual factors into every essay.
