Introduction

Home investigations should always start with seeking permission to carry out the investigation in the home. Next, you should read the downloaded investigation sheet carefully. This contains the instructions as to what should be done. This should be followed by an appraisal of any hazards and risks and a decision about what you need to do to keep yourself safe. As a bare minimum, you should always wear eye protection goggles when investigating. Next, find a safe and suitable place in which to work, then assemble all equipment and / or chemicals as advised in the instruction sheet. Then systematically work through each stage of the investigation. DO NOT make your own versions up of the practical or be tempted to use incorrect quantities.
