- demonstrate an understanding of the impacts of migration (positive and negative impacts should be considered, on the destination and origin of the migrants, and the migrants themselves).

Reading
Read Chapter 1.2 ‘Migration’, pages 19–26. Think carefully about the Key Questions (page 19) and complete all of the Activities. Pay particular attention to the key points listed below.
- There is a lot of vocabulary in this topic. You will find it useful to make a glossary of all the terms highlighted in blue in your book. Push and pull factors are vital to learn (Fig. 1) as are types of migration (Fig. 2). Also think about the types of people (age, gender, wealth) that are likely to undertake each type of movement.
- The table in Fig. 9 is an excellent summary of the impacts of migration – learn it.
