Syllabus and Examination Information
This Wolsey Hall course is designed to prepare you for the Cambridge IGCSE English First Language examination which you will sit at a Cambridge exam centre.
The Programme of Study for this course is a very important document as it shows how the course links to the CAIE syllabus and highlights which pages of the coursebook to read as you progress through the topics and modules. You should download this and keep it with you as you study.

IMPORTANT – PLEASE NOTE:
The examination code for IGCSE English First Language (Graded A* to G) is 0500.
The examination code for IGCSE English First Language (Graded 9 to 1) is 0990*.
*Exam code 0990 applies only to Zone 3 exam centres. If you are taking your exam in Zone 3 you may choose which grading system you prefer when you register at an exam centre by selecting either exam code 0500 or exam code 0990. If you are taking your exam in the other Administrative Zones you will take exam code 0500.
In your exam, you will sit two papers:
- Paper 1: Reading – answering questions on three texts (2 hours) 50% of total marks.
- Paper 2: Directed Writing and Composition (2 hours) 50% of total marks.
