Begin today’s lesson by telling your student that you are going to start Year 6 by reviewing a few things. The first is parts of speech. Instruct your student to take the Grammar Review. This should not be looked at as a score, but rather used to inform your instruction. It should give you an idea of what your student already knows and what they need to invest a bit more time studying.

Access the Parts of speech worksheet and read the information on the first page. If you have studied with the Wolsey Hall programme previously, this will be a revision lesson for you. If this is your first introduction to the parts of speech, you may really benefit from researching an explanation and examples of each part of speech on the Internet or in a dictionary.

We will be readdressing (briefly) them throughout the course of the term, in order to use them to learn new things. Once you are comfortable with which words belong to the different parts of speech, complete the task on the second page (answers are on the third page)
