Your Coursebooks, Set Texts and Other Resources

Wolsey Hall offers a unique model of offline and online resources to our homeschooling students – a model which we have developed based on our many years’ experience of providing home schooling courses to students.

All the files required for your course are uploaded onto our Learning Management System, Canvas, and your set text book will be sent out to you. Details of how to access the course eBooks are given below.

Coursebook

Each subject specialist team carefully selects the best coursebook from which you will study. The Cambridge Latin Course is a well-established and successful Latin programme developed by the Cambridge School Classics Project. Using five eBooks, the course provides an enjoyable and carefully paced introduction to the Latin language, complemented by background information on Roman culture and civilisation. It is supported by the excellent website where you can find explanations, activities and links to explore. Links to the five eBooks and their associated resources can be found in this document CIE Latin Course eBooks & Resources (University of Cambridge) which is in the General Resources section on your Canvas course. This link is also provided in each topic for easy reference.

Throughout the course, we recommend that you try all the questions in the eBooks – the Programme of Study will highlight which pages you should read for each module.

Set Text

You will also receive a hard copy of the following book to support the literature modules on this course:

  • Introducing Cicero: A Latin Reader; ISBN 9781853996375

Other Resources

In addition to your coursebook, your tutors have researched lots of interesting and fun resources to support your learning. These resources are clearly indicated in each module and you should make use of these alongside your coursebook work to ensure that you get the very best out of your studies.

You can also make use of the extensive exam preparation material to help you prepare for your final examination. You will find past papers as well as their mark schemes in Module Fourteen: Exam Preparation.

Note for Students in North America

Students in North America will now be able to use the Cambridge Latin Course North American platform, Elevate, via the subscription taken out by Wolsey Hall. Your Student Progress Manager (SPM) will be able to give you the information you need to access this.

This is a newer edition of the CLC and has minor differences from the one that is referred to throughout this Canvas course. The stories are essentially the same but some of the stages and exercises are distributed slightly differently throughout the course – please refer to table in the Download Note for Students in North America Using Elevate

document found in General Resources for specific information relating to these differences.

We have created some new resources to enable North American students to access the course without any difficulty despite these changes. These are listed in each topic under the heading Extra Support.

All IGCSE Latin students should note, however, that these resources are useful regardless of which edition of the CLC you are following.
