How to work through the course

Introduction Icon.png Introduction

This Sample shows One module from the full course and is designed to give you a flavour of the Wolsey Hall approach to home study.

Welcome to your Lower Secondary Art and Design course. Please take the time to read carefully through this section. It will explain how the course is structured, how to get the most out of the course, and how your work will be assessed.

During the course you will be presented with lots of stimulating ideas about how to create art. You will be encouraged to experiment with a range of resources and to explore and express your unique personality through your art. There is no set course book: instead you will be learning through investigation, reflection and discussion. The focus will be on making and experiencing art and on reflecting on it, which are key elements in thinking and working artistically.

Each module focuses on specific artistic skills, such as drawing, sculpture or painting. You will be able to watch video tutorials that demonstrate the techniques you will be using and that show you how you can improve and develop your skills.

At the end of each module you will have the opportunity to reflect on your own ideas and practices as an artist and those of others. You will also be encouraged to consider how art and design affects and benefits everyone.

The course resources are there to help you practise your skills and use art tools safely, so do spend time working through them. Please contact your tutor if you need any further help.
